Early Childhood Specialist
Why you work for Head Start:
I started my career in Franklin as a Head Start teacher in 2005. We became a combo program in 2008 and I was hired by Franklin Public Schools as the preschool teacher. I loved teaching preschool! Every day brings something new whether it’s a new development, an unexpected challenge, or a fun memory. One of the most rewarding aspects of being a preschool teacher is that it teaches you to think on your toes and embrace the unexpected. In 2019 I resigned from teaching preschool and accepted the Early Childhood Specialist position at Head Start. Overall, I have worked with Head Start for 19 years.
Favorite thing about your job:
The thing I love most about my position as an Early Childhood Specialist is I get to work with classroom staff and home visitors to help ensure we are providing high quality services to children and families. I enjoy coming up with creative ways to provide professional development for staff that is engaging and meaningful. At Head Start, there is a sense of belonging. We are a team and staff genuinely care about each other. I feel privileged to work for an organization where everyone supports each other and encourages collaboration and growth.
