Pay: 43,888 salary for Bachelor/Master Degree Teachers

Pay: $20.85 per hour for Associate’s Degree Teachers

Job Description:

Full-time Teacher needed for the Grand Island and Hastings Head Start for the 2025-2026 school year. Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field is required. Applicants with a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and a teaching certificate preferred.

The Teacher is responsible for the education of children and management of the classroom environment to implement the goals of the Head Start Program, in accordance with the Head Start Performance Standards. Teachers must be able to become partners with parents by involving them in the educational development of their children. The Teacher is responsible for promoting a team environment, and working effectively with Specialists, Area Coordinators, Para-Professionals, volunteersparents, and other employees.

· Assess the developmental level of each child in the class relying upon parental input, classroom observation and the results of screening and testing.

· Refer any children who may have developmental and/or behavioral delays to the Early Childhood Specialist and other appropriate Specialists.

· Complete 2 home visits and 2 parent teacher conferences with parents. Complete required paperwork that is associated with the home visits and conferences.

· Enter GOLD observations resulting in a minimum of one anecdote per child per item each period.

· Supervise Assistant Teachers and Para-Professionals including assigning work tasks, ensuring appropriate interactions with children, completing performance appraisals, approving PTO request and addressing performance concerns. Complete staff documentation as needed.

Bus Drivers needed for the Migrant Education Summer School Program

Temporary summer position

Pay: 24.98/hour

May 27th-29th: Paperwork & becoming familiar with bus routes

June 2nd-26th: Monday through Thursday 8-10 hours/week, more hours available if interested, AM/PM routes

Paras needed for the Migrant Education Summer School Program

Temporary summer position

Pay: $14.93/hour

Dates of work

May 27th-29th: training/prep week

June 2nd-26th: Monday through Thursday 36 hours/week

Bilingual applicants highly encouraged to apply. Must have a minimum of a High School Diploma/GED.

Job Duties:

  • In cooperation with the Teacher, undertake assigned activities to carry out the goals and policies of the Migrant Education Program.
  • Abide by Head Start Program standards of conduct for employees, including respect for and promotion of the unique identity of each participant; adherence to confidentiality policies; ensuring that no child is left alone or unsupervised; and using positive methods of child guidance.
  • Assist the Teacher in the effective utilization of volunteers in the classroom.
  • Work cooperatively with program directors, staff, volunteers, and parents.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and clean classroom by participating with other staff in shared housekeeping responsibilities.
  • Model appropriate behavior for children to observe, particularly in connection with meals.
  • Bus Monitor duties when needed. Drive a van route when needed.

Pay: $17.83/hour

$1.00 more per hour for individuals who obtain an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.

Who we are:

Migrant Education Program Mission: To help migratory children and youth meet high academic challenges by overcoming the obstacles created by frequent moves, educational disruption, cultural and language differences, and health-related problems.

Migrant Education Program Goal: Ensure that all migrant students reach challenging academic standards and graduate with a high school diploma (or complete a HSED) that prepares them for responsible citizenship, further learning, and productive employment.

We serve qualified students in the following counties: Adams, Clay, Webster, Nuckolls, Franklin.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Assist migrant families in effective use of resources and services available to them.
  • Establish and maintain parent contact throughout the program year, encourage parental participation, and input into program issues.
  • Assist with Migrant summer school (transportation, contacting families, interpretation).
  • Complete home visits with Migrant families throughout the year.
  • Implement grade monitoring procedures with migrant students to ensure students successfully graduate high school and/or successfully move on to the next grade level.
  • Plan and arrange Migrant Parent Meetings and Events.
Job Requirements:
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED with a preference for an individual with a bachelors or associates degree.
  • Preference of previous experience in working with migratory children or families or families of diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Must be bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Must have a clear MVR (Motor Vehicle Report) in order to drive an agency vehicle.
  • Must be 21 in order to transport children and families.

Head Start is seeking employees to join a fun work atmosphere in our family-oriented program!!

Full-time Para-Professional needed for the Grand Island and Hastings Head Start for the 2024-2025 school year. Wage is $14.93 per hour with a $1.00 pay differential for those with an A.A. in ECE Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED. Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education Preferred. Benefits include paid time off and ongoing training opportunities available.

The Para-Professional is responsible for working in a team environment to assist the Teacher and classroom employees in providing support for educational activities, meals, classroom management, and other classroom activities in accordance with the Head Start Performance Standards.

  • Utilize developmentally appropriate classroom activities for children.
  • Encourage parents to participate in the program in a variety of ways that fit their skills and time. Collect in-kind related to this participation.
  • Enter GOLD observations resulting in a minimum of one anecdote per child per item each period.
  • Assist families in a variety of ways including but not limited to; connecting with resources, making referrals, sharing information about their child’s day, translating documents, and interpreting.
