Full-time, preschool Para-Professionals needed for Franklin public schools/Head Start. 40 hours/week. Wage is $15.13 per hour with a $1.00 pay differential for those with an A.A. in ECE. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED. Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education Preferred. Benefits include paid time off and on going training opportunities available.

Job Responsibilities

The Para-Professional is responsible for working in a team environment to assist the Teacher and classroom employees in providing support for educational activities, meals, classroom management, and other classroom activities in accordance with the Head Start Performance Standards.

  • Utilize developmentally appropriate classroom activities for children.
  • Encourage parents to participate in the program in a variety of ways that fit their skills and time. Collect in-kind related to this participation.
  • Assist families in a variety of ways including but not limited to; connecting with resources, making referrals, sharing information about their child’s day, translating documents and interpreting.

Full-time Teacher needed for the Hastings Head Start. Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field is required. Applicants with a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and a teaching certificate preferred.

Job Responsibilities

The Teacher is responsible for the education of children and management of the classroom environment to implement the goals of the Head Start Program, in accordance with the Head Start Performance Standards. Teachers must be able to become partners with parents by involving them in the educational development of their children. The Teacher is responsible for promoting a team environment, and working effectively with Specialists, Area Coordinators, Para-Professionals, volunteersparents, and other employees.

  •  Assess the developmental level of each child in the class relying upon parental input, classroom observation and the results of screening and testing.
  • Refer any children who may have developmental and/or behavioral delays to the Early Childhood Specialist and other appropriate Specialists.
  • Complete 2 home visits and 2 parent teacher conferences with parents. Complete required paperwork that is associated with the home visits and conferences.
  • Enter GOLD observations resulting in a minimum of one anecdote per child per item each period.
  • Supervise Para-Professionals including assigning work tasks, ensuring appropriate interactions with children, completing performance appraisals, approving PTO request and addressing performance concerns. Complete staff documentation as needed.

Job Description:

Full-time 40 hours/week, Early Development Network Service Coordinator needed for the Hastings Head Start. Pay is $21.50/hour. This is a year-round position. Applicants must have a minimum of an Associate’s Degree. Bachelor’s Degree preferred. A bilingual applicant speaking fluent English and Spanish is preferred.

Under general supervision from a services coordinator supervisor, the services coordinator is responsible for the identification, referral, and coordination of services for children and families. The services coordinator also serves as the single point of contact in helping parents gain needed services and assistance.

  • Conduct visits with families to review intake information and establish rapport.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with referral source and other contacts as requested by the family.
  • Identify family needs, strengths, and priorities on a continuing basis. This will be obtained through the RBI process.
  • Assist the family in forming the IFSP team and gaining access to services.
  • Serves as liaison between the family and service providers relative to the needs of the family, while at the same time encouraging the family to take this role.
  • Assists the family in identifying gaps in services and relaying that information to the IFSP team and other agencies.
  • Works with the family to develop strengths and skills needed to support the child eligible for Early Intervention services through the local school district.
  • Facilitates communication between family and IFSP team and other service providers.

Job Description:

Head Start is seeking employees to join a fun work atmosphere in our family oriented program!!

Full-time, head cook needed for the Hastings Head Start. Wage is $16.46 per hour. 40 hours per week throughout the school year and for one month during the Summer for summer school program. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED.

Job Responsibilities

The Head Cook is responsible for overseeing the preparation of varied, nutritious and attractive meals for participants in various programs, including Head Start, and Early Head Start. The Cook is also responsible for overseeing the cleanup of serving areas and kitchen facilities after meals.

  • Prepare meals in accordance with the requirements of the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). Meals should be presented in a family style, with consideration given to the ethnic food preferences of Program participants.
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment in the dining and kitchen areas. This includes wiping off counters, food preparation surfaces, tables and chairs with disinfectant solution, and sweeping and mopping kitchen and dining room floors.
  • Maintain all required information and accurate records, including those necessary to meet requirements of the CACFP and SFSP. Communicate any concerns regarding nutritional issues to the Nutrition Coordinator or Program Director(s), and share relevant nutritional and dietary information with appropriate staff.
  • Assist in the supervision of food service staff, including volunteers
  • Purchase food and supplies as needed from approved vendor and area food bank. This would include ordering supplies for the upcoming school year.
